Richard S. Ramsey, Esq.
Richard Ramsey was born and raised in Amherst, Ohio and is a graduate of Marion L. Steele High School.
Mr. Ramsey earned his Bachelor's Degree from Capital University and his Juris Doctor from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
Mr. Ramsey was admitted to the practice of law in the State of Ohio in 2003. He has been a sole private practitioner for his entire legal career.
Mr. Ramsey has primarily practiced as a litigator, focusing on criminal defense and domestic relations (family) law.
While attending high school, Mr. Ramsey was a varsity football player, wrestler, and shot putter.
He is an avid music fan and musician, having taught himself to play the drums. During his high school
and college years, Mr. Ramsey worked as a semi-professional musician. He has experience writing, recording, and performing music.
Mr. Ramsey is married and has two children. He enjoys teaching and helping young people. He has a passion for coaching youth sports.
Mr. Ramsey's wife is a Registered Nurse who works with coronary care patients. She is a very gifted nurse and well-respected in her profession.
Experiencing many of the same issues as many of his domestic relations clients has provided Mr. Ramsey with a perspective and ability conducive to resolving family law issues.
However, he has said that practicing domestic relations law has had as much of an impact on his family (in a positive way), as his family has had on his practice.
Mr. Ramsey is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and Lorain County Bar Association. He serves the LCBA on several committees including fee dispute arbitration and Bar Admissions.
In addition to practicing law on a full-time basis, Mr. Ramsey serves the City of Amherst in the part-time roles of City Treasurer and Income Tax Administrator.
Serving the City has made Mr. Ramsey's professional career come full circle. Many people do not know, but Mr. Ramsey was a public administration major in college. His passion for the law stems from his passion for government.
Many people think that those interested in politics are only interested in acquisition of power and money. However, some people are fascinated with the way that government is supposed to work and the way that it actually works.
